If you were a child in the 2000s, there’s a good chance you were baffled when you found out Genovia wasn’t a real country. The fake news came from the iconicDisneyfilm The Princess Diaries, starring Anne Hathaway as the unexpected princess of the nation.
That doesn’t mean speculation for a threequel hasn’t been rife, so here’s what we know about whether there will be a Princess Diaries 3.
Will there be a Princess Diaries 3?
It’s still up in the air whether a Princess Diaries 3 will happen — but there’s good reason to believe it could come off.
Rumors have begun to circle once again after Anna Hathaway and Chris Pine were both spotted at the SAG Awards. One fanpostedon X/Twitter: “The universe keeps telling us we need a Princess Diaries 3 why won’t Hollywood LISTEN.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, shestated: “I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible. It was talked about very shortly after two [The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement] came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run. In terms of us doing it, I doubt that now.”
Sandra Oh and John Rhys-Davies have also publicly expressed interest in returning for The Princess Diaries 3.
Despite these numerous reports, nothing concrete has ever materialized. But who knows — maybe the SAG memes will inspire new interest.
