Its fate has been hanging in the balance, but there has since been concrete news about Season 6.
Will there be a New Amsterdam Season 6?
New Amsterdam was canceled, so there will be no Season 6.
Though it’s bad news for New Amsterdam fans, there are explanations for why it was canceled.
Declining viewership and poor ratings were the reasons for New Amsterdam Season 6 not being on the cards. Executive producer Peter Horton toldDeadline, “I still think this thing could have, should have run for another couple years,” Horton explained.
“There are still so many stories to tell and these characters are so interesting. David came up with just a raft of amazing characters and I want to know more about all of them.”
New Amsterdam Season 6 was canceled due to low ratings.According toTVLine, the medical drama was down somewhere between 11-30% from its Season 3 ratings.
That plummet in ratings bumped New Amsterdam way down the rankings at NBC, with the show being the eighth-highest rated of the 11 dramas NBC was airing at the time.
