AsTikTokhas grown into one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, discussions about whether or not the platform is suitable for younger children and teens.
Some users have reported gettingage protected messages, saying they need to be 18 in order to see certain types on content on the app. This made users confused as to whether or not there is an age limit on TikTok, and how old they must be to not see the age restrictive messages.
Here’s everything you need to know about the current age restriction on TikTok.
Is there an age limit on TikTok?
Yes there is an age limit on TikTok.All users must be over 13 years old in order to use the app, and the content will be restricted for all users under the age of 18.
TikTok has also issued a60 minute daily screen time limitfor all users under the age of 18. If the 60-minute limit is reached, teens will be prompted to enter a passcode in order to continue watching, requiring them to make an active decision to extend that time.
Despite users having to be aged 13 and up the age ratings for TikTok are, a little confusingly, 12+ on Apple’s App Store and “Parental Guidance Recommended” on the Google Play Store.
