After years of speculation, Warzone developer Raven Software finally confirmed that original launch map Verdansk will return for Black Ops 6. While the devs have kept tight-lipped about the return, some information has surfaced, and here’s everything we do know.
Verdansk was the original map in the Call of Duty battle royale hit and quickly became incredibly popular with the player base.
Ever since, Verdansk has been requested by players wanting to revisit their old haunts and their favorite drops. Still, it always seemed as though that was an impossibility – unless you want to playWarzone Mobile, where Verdansk is a playable map. However, a light at the end of the tunnel is now finally in sight.
Does Verdansk have a release date?
Initially, rumors suggested that Black Ops 6 would launch with Verdansk as its primary battle royale environment. However, on June 27, aleaksuggested that the iconic map would launch in the middle of the title’s lifecycle instead.
Fears escalated in Augustwhen fans got a first look at the new Warzone map Area 99. Players speculated that Verdansk would not return at all since Treyarch focused on developing a new map.
For example, Verdansk ’84 came after the Black Ops Cold War integration, opening the Stadium, destroying certain parts of Downtown, and adding the Array POI.
It may be that we see a like-for-like copy of one of these versions of Verdansk, or even a freshly updated version to utilize some of the newer mechanics, such as Redeploy Drones and increased ziplines on tall buildings.
It wouldn’t be Verdansk without iconic POIs such as Hospital, Dam, Prison, and Stadium, but Raven and Activision have kept very tight-lipped about what’s to come.
We’ll be sure to keep this page updated as soon as we hear more about Verdansk’s return, but for now, make sure you’re on top of thebest guns in Warzoneand obliterating your enemies in preparation for the big day.
