Valorant players confused as to why “nobody” uses Astra

In aReddit post on February 23, one Valorant player put a thread discussing Astra, particularly touching on why it appears nobody uses the Agent.

“Why does nobody play Astra?” they wrote. “I always thought about that nobody plays her in low or high Elo.”

They added: “I watch a lot of Radiant players/pro players on Twitch and even in pro matches but still no Astra.”

In the replies, others have picked up on it too, noticing very few players choosing Astra in their lobbies. However, according to some, there are several reasons as to why this is the case.

“In low Elo no one plays her cause she’s very hard,” one explained. “And in high Elo everyone prefers Omen because you can frag out better.”

Not only that, they made note that the West African Agent needs a ton of coordination to maximize her impact, which you can only have to a certain point while playing Ranked. Furthermore, Omen currently sits in a good spot in the meta whereas Astra lacks in some areas.

Others also explained that the Agent’s design is much more complex than most, making picking her up difficult for new players.

Nevertheless, with Astra not seeing any changes since Episode 7, with those being some small nerfs, the Agent is long overdue for some tweaks. With that said it’ll be interesting to see if anything changes if Riot puts her under the spotlight in a future update.
