Sega’s next game starring the world’s favorite hyperspeeding hedgehog is Sonic X Shadow Generations. We’ve combed over its recent reveal to gather everything you need to know about the game.
Sonicis one of Sega’s biggest franchises and the larger-than-life hedgehog is a transmedial icon. Since he debuted on Sega Genesis in 1991, Sonic has had his own television shows,films, and evenLego sets.
Throughout the years, Sega never forgot Sonic’s roots though and we’ve seen more than 30 games featuring their mascot since he first spin-dashed onto consoles. Now the next Sonic game is here.
Sonic X Shadow Generations release date
What makes this remake so different from the original titles is very obviously the addition of Shadow the Hedgehog. Putting Sonic’s black and red rival front and center makes sense given that Shadow will play a big role in the upcoming filmSonic the Hedgehog 3.
The trailer has shown off gameplay of the segments featuring Shadow. They look to feature new takes on some of Shadow’s levels from Sonic Adventure 2 and the divisive PS2 classic Shadow the Hedgehog.
While it doesn’t look like the fandom-splitting guns from Shadow the Hedgehog will be returning in this game, the antagonist Black Doom looks set to return. Black Doom plays a key role in Shadow the Hedgehog’s backstory and his minions are seen in the trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations.
