Singer Cat Janice has died from cancer after going viral earlier this year for releasing her final song in a bid to raise money for her son.

In an effort to raise money for her son, Loren, Janice amended the rights to her entire discography,leaving the proceeds to him in the event of her death.

She also released her swan song,‘Dance You Outta My Head,’to raise money for Loren, saying she wanted her “last song to bring joy and fun.”

“We are eternally thankful for the outpouring of love that Catherine and our family have received over the past few months,” the message reads. “Cat saw her music go places she never expected and rests in the peace of knowing that she will continue to provide for her son through her music. This would not have been possible without all of you.”

Commenters are expressing their sorrow and sympathy toward Cat’s family, expressing how moved they were by her music and wishing her son the best.

“I have never cried for someone that I don’t know like I have cried for Cat,” one fan wrote. “She definitely left her mark on this Earth.”

“The fact that she went peacefully, surrounded by family, in her own home is everything a palliative care/hospice nurse could ever want,” another said. “Her loss will be felt, but her legacy will continue.”
