Unsuspecting customers who believed they would be saving money at supermarket chain Tesco were instead humiliated when the QR code they scanned ended up adding an adult toy to their cart.
Online pranks have seemingly existed since the very inception of the internet with Twitch streamers, YouTubers, and all sorts of content creators fooling users for years.
However, it takes a special kind of online prank to trick someone into doing something offline, but that’s exactly what happened for shoppers trying to save a few bucks atTesco.
Popular X user ‘StokeyyG2’ appeared to be doing folks a favor by posting a QR code that would supposedly save customers £9.50, but anyone who tried it was in for a surprise at the self-checkout.

After posting the QR code, numerous X users in the comments tried it out, including one who posted a screenshot of what would actually pop up when it was scanned.

Instead of saving almost $12 USD, the customer instead had anadult toyshow up at the checkout. “Oh you’re a c**t,” the upset victimreplied.
He wasn’t the only to fall for the prank either as many others chimed in with how they were humiliated at the checkout.
“I got scammed wtf,” anotherwrote.
“Well that was embarrassing,” saidanother.
But the prank was even more devastating because of how the self-checkout machines function. The only way to remove the item would be to ask a staff member, potentially making for an awkward encounter.
Needless to say, always be careful of what you see online, and if something istoo good to be true, it often is.
