Carl ‘Rekkles’ Larsson and his new team T1 Academy have finally won a game this season in a series that saw the European legend return to the ADC role.
The blame, however, doesn’t fall on Rekkles’sshoulders as the support playerhas had one of the highest KDAs in the league and has won Player of the Game multiple times.
T1 defeated DRX Challengers 2-1 in the three-game series, taking the first and third games. Rekkles was the MVP of the game in the third and decisive matchup.
The series also saw Rekkles return to playing an ADC, Varus, in the second game. The European player played in the bot lane alongside Sin ‘Smash’ Geum-jae on Rumble. Both bot lane players took supportive items, however, Rekkles ended the game with the most CS and was the sole ranged AD threat on his team. T1 went on to lose that game with Rekkles as ADC.
“It’s a big relief, I would say, because I feel like when you lose so many games consecutively it feels like there’s added pressure to winning, even though we are actually playing quite well for the most part. I’m just really happy we could get this win because now I know the feeling of the team will be much better.” Rekkles said whenasked how it feels to record his first win in the LCK CL.
T1 still has 13 more matches to play in the league, and could still easily make a run toward the Spring Playoffs. While Rekkles’s first few weeks in the South Korean league have not started out well, this win could be the start of some success for the European legend in Asia.
