Game Freak has unveiled a new Pokemon game, and while some are sharing concerns at the potential size of the title, others are saying they love the Midgar “vibes” which feel straight from FFVII.

However, a lot of Pokemon fans are instead looking to a different recent RPG to keep their hopes alive, and many are also pointing out the similarities. As it turns out, Pokemon might be taking some inspiration from an unlikely place,Final Fantasy VII.

A Pokemon content creator by the name ofAce Trainer Liamhas shared a post on X discussing the new game, with the comment, “Seeing people whining about #PokemonLegendsZA only taking place in Lumiose City as if it’ll be the size of the 3DS version is pretty funny.”

I know it’s a lot to ask of Pokémon fans, to await more info before deciding they hate something, but seeing people whining about#PokemonLegendsZAonly taking place in Lumiose City as if it’ll be the size of the 3DS version is pretty funny! 🤣City =/= Small lolpic.twitter.com/Lqm0hP4lDv

As well as a few other pictures of video game cities, there is a picture of Final Fantasy VII’s Midgar, and many fans are quick to point towards the recent Final Fantasy VII Remake as an example of a large game set entirely within one city.

One comment underneath the post say, “It gave me midgar vibes, I’m all for it” Then, another adds, “even if it is smaller it could be heavily condensed with shops and stuff at every corner”.

A different comment agrees with the main consensus, saying, “Will deffo say the overhead view of Lumiose, divided into slices, is giving Midgar vibes which has me hyped.” While another adds, “It’s as if FF7 Remake taught them nothing”.
