Vocal Pokemon fans have spoken out againstPalworldaccusing the open-world survival game of using “rip off” designs that are lifted from Pokemon.
However, gameplay-wise it does differentiate itself greatly by not only being a survival crafting game but also featuring mature themes like poaching, slavery, and crime.
Despite these differences, not all Pokemon fans are happy with Palworld believing Pocketpair’s new game takes more than just inspiration from Nintendo’s iconic series.
Pokemon players slam Palworld designs for being “rip offs”
Furious with the state of Palworld’s creature design one passionate Pokemon fanposted on X/Twitterencouraging others to not support the new indie game.
The post that has received over 4,000 Likes says, “Reminder not to support palworld, it’s not even subtle about its rip offs, how much else has it stolen?”
Some examples given include Dinossom taking ideas from Meganium, Fenglope having a similar color palette to Cobalion, and Jetragon having the “same bodyshape and idea,” as both Latias and Latios.
One of the most scathing replies followed up, “My friend so desperately wants me to play this game with him, but man… why play an imitation when I could play the real thing that’s 10 times better than this knock off.”
Another fan replied, “They also have one that looks like Lucario but looks Egyptian,” referring to Anubis, a Ground-type Pal inspired by ancient Egypt.
Though some Pokemon fans are anti-Palworld this isn’t a universal stance with others praising the indie game and insisting they “feel no loyalty to Gamefreak after the way they’ve handled pokemon lately,” and that “Latis and Salamence WISHES they were as cool as the Palworld Jet-dragon.”
Palworld has been the focus of a fair amount of criticism with some people even accusing it of being a potential scam, forcing the developer to defendtheir creation.
