Famous PlayStation-exclusive title Until Dawn will come to life on the big screen with director David F. Sandberg and screenwriter Gary Dauberman.
The horror game gave players an immersive experience by putting them in control of the lives of eight college students visiting the friend’s family ski-lodge after the death of twins Hannah and Beth.
Until Dawn’s story direction is entirely up to the player, allowing for multiple endings depending on which characters survive ‘until dawn.’ It also gave players a new mechanic with the PS4’s controller to sense any movement.
After its success, Until Dawn will betransformed into a movie. This adds to the growing list of video game live-action renditions likeThe Last of Us,Minecraft, andFive Nights at Freddy’s.
Until Dawn gets the royal horror treatment
WhileSandbergis the movie’s director,Daubermanwill be acting as the film’s screenwriter. Dauberman has had his hand in successful horror titles such as It, The Nun, and Annabelle: Creation. Sanberg was also the director of Annabelle: Creation, which will give fans some insight into what the pair is capable of.
Actual actors from different backgrounds captured the Until Dawn characters. Some of the most notable are Jordan Fisher, Hayden Panettiere, and Rami Malek. There are few details known about the movie regarding production. Since the game featured real actors, it is hard to say whether those individuals will resume their roles from several years ago.
In the last two years, other live-action adaptations have been massively successful, like the Mario Bros movie and The Last of Us, who keep true to their gaming counterparts with only slight variations. Since Until Dawn has multiple endings depending on the number of survivors, it is hard to say which one will be chosen.
We will update you once actors are announced for the Until Dawn movie, but until then, the rest is complete speculation.
