Orlando Magic All-Star Paolo Banchero reflected on his memorable performance against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, capped off by a historic feat.

Paolo Banchero sees rare feat as “crazy” accomplishment

Banchero stands as only the fourth player since the 1983-84 season to average at least 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists at age 21 or younger.

Magic beat reporter Jason Beedeshared Banchero’s thoughts on the major accomplishment in his post-game presser on X:

“I mean yeah, when you say that with those names, it is kind of crazy hearing that…” Banchero said of being in the company of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Luka Doncic.

“It is kind of crazy hearing that but — When I first got here, I wanted to just win,” said#Magic’s Paolo Banchero on what it means to be one of only 4#NBAplayers in the last 40 years to have career-averages of 20+ PTS, 6+ REBS and 4+ ASTS at age 21-or-younger.Full remarks:pic.twitter.com/gOhlkZJLpO

Considering that the league has had many versatile high school draftees and one-and-done superstars since 1984 including Kevin Garnett, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant, Banchero’s accomplishment is even more special.

The Duke University product etched his big day in the minds of fans with a coast-to-coast dunk that brought the house down at the Kia Center.

He also slyly euro-stepped in the lane for a pretty finish. Banchero added two signature highlights to his growing package of spectacular plays.

Banchero’s work on Sunday was noticed by the NBA world, which boasted of his play during and after the game. He’s steadily becoming a fan favorite as his profile continues to grow in the league.
