The Overwatch 2 developers have stepped back on their changes to Golden Weapons in Season 9 after backlash, with plans to reimplement them in Season 10.

Season 9ofOverwatch 2has been one of the biggest updates the game has ever seen. With a massive overhaul to competitive play, including a new Champion rank for the best players to obtain, everyone is keen to hop back on ranked. Not only has Competitive changed, but with several changes to hero health and passives, the game has shifted significantly.

One change that was almost universally disliked was to competitive points and ranked weapons. Season 9 introducedJade Weaponsto replace the previous Gold ones. Golden Weapons would still be acquirable but would require legacy competitive points that were only earned by converting current points at the end of each season.

Now, afterplayer backlash, the devs have gone back on this change, with the team looking to implement the rewards back in Season 10.

Overwatch 2 directorAaron Kellertook to Twitter to explain the changes coming to Gold Weapons.

Now instead of waiting to convert your competitive points to legacy ones, players will be able to purchase Golden Weapons with current competitive points in Season 10. This change means players no longer need to stock up on points until the end of the year.

As for what the devs have planned for Legacy Competitive Points is still up in the air, but at least the change means the player base is kept happy.
