The Pro Football Hall-of-Famer recently reacted to Wilson’s free agency by offering advice on how a team can position him to thrive in their offense.
Warren Moon believes Russell Wilson isn’t done
The 67-year-old legend spoke toTMZ Sportson Friday and said point blank that there’s “no question” that Wilson isn’t washed. He spoke life into Wilson’s capabilities while putting on a proverbial general manager hat:
“If you can get him with a good running back behind him, that takes a lot of the pressure off of him to do some of those other things in the passing game, no question Russell can be very effective, because he as all of this experience,” Moon raved.
“He has a lot of playoff experience, a lot of Super Bowl experience, so that comes back to play when he gets to that part of the season.”
Wilson’s Week 15 benching created a rift between him and Broncos head coach Sean Payton. It also caused some NFL fans to think that his days as an MVP candidate or anything close to it, were done.
Albeit, Wilson’s 297 completions and 26-8 TD-INT ratio, while a tick down from his usual output, showed that he still has something left in the tank.
The 35-year-old star believes so too. Moon took account of this when asked whether he could see Wilson holding out if only backup options are out there for him:
“I don’t think he would do it. I think, if anything he would wait.”
Fortunately for him, there are several teams rumored to be interested. Whether it’s NFL executives, insiders, or football enthusiasts, there’s belief that the Falcons have the best chance to land Wilson before training camp.
