The Walking Dead universe is no stranger to spinoffs, and the newest, The Ones Who Live, is already faring very well with fans and critics.
With the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as Rick and Michonne,The Ones Who Livefollows the two characters (who exited the main series early) as they embark on an epic love story and journey to find each other once again.
Although we’ve only hadEpisode 1so far, it’s already caught the praise of fans and critics, who’ve since given it the highest compliment it can receive.
The Ones Who Live is the highest-rated The Walking Dead spinoff yet
Since the series premiere of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the show has already garnered high scores onRotten Tomatoes, with a better rating than the original series or any of its previous spinoffs.
With 100+ ratings on the Audience Score, The Ones Who Live is sitting pretty at 96% at the time of writing. On the Tomatometer side of things, it’s currently at 87%, with 15 reviews behind it.
For comparison, the other most recent series (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon) landed a 67% Audience Score and a 71% Tomatometer score. Elsewhere,The Walking Dead: Dead Citylanded on 78% and 80, respectively.
The original series doesn’t even stand up against The Ones Who Live. It eventually landed with a 78% Audience Score, accompanied by a 79% Tomatometer score.
Of course, the original series had 11 seasons and over a decade of time to ride through the various bumps in quality and has accumulated far more audience response.The Ones Who Liveis still in the early stages, with fans riding high from the explosive opening episode.
Still, if this is indicative of where The Ones Who Live could stand in the history of The Walking Dead, things are looking very promising.
