A new Steam Deck owner on Reddit was left quite shocked after receiving his handheld from GameStop as they accidentally upgraded them to a model with more storage.
One Redditor recently ordered their new Steam Deck through GameStop and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived at his front door.
Steam Deck owner surprised with free storage increase
Posted on the Steam Deck subreddit, user Tokyoaro shared the “oopsie” made by GameStop with their order.
“GameStop made an oopsie. It ended up getting a 512 instead of the 256 I paid for,” they said.
In the accompanying pictures, you can see the box and receipt showing that OP ordered a 256GB model Steam Deck, and that’s what it said on the box when it arrived. However, the last photo shows that the device actually has 512GB of internal storage.
Others quickly took to the replies to share their thoughts on the oopsie as well, with many joking about the company’s trade-in values.
“Oopsie… I’m from GameStop, could you bring it back?” one user jokingly asked. OP replied: “You’ll only give me .50 cents.”
Another replied: “What is that like a free 150 dollars? Massive W dude happy for you.”
Many others speculated what could have caused the mix-up, with many thinking that maybe it was actually a 256GB model originally, butthe previous owner upgraded the SSD.
