Stars of My Hero Academia: You’re Next have teased how the tense relationship between Bakugo and Deku will evolve in the upcoming movie.
In anticipation of the superhero anime’s fourth film, Daiki Yamashita and Nobuhiko Okamoto attended the Japanese premiere, where they spoke about the story. They revealed that Bakugo and Deku grow closer as a result of what happens, admiring each other more than before.
“There are more scenes where we fight together,” Nobuhikostates, per Oricon. “I think that they recognize each other as heroes because they can fight together without any personal feelings.”
Daiki concurs: “Normally, I think people would make a solid plan and fight, but these two can instantly choose the best way to fight. I think that’s amazing.”
Bakugo is one of the more explosive students inClass 1-A, literally and figuratively. He’s always been the Vegeta to Deku’s Goku; grumpy and with a villainous streak, but ultimately erring towards good.
Him and Deku have a strong chemistry that’s grown throughout the main plot. Bakugo recognizes Deku’s power and potential, and his need for allies in the battle againstShigaraki. More than that, Deku’s kindness stirs something in Bakugo that we’ve seen blossom over the last six seasons and three movies.
How You’re Next adds to that remains to be seen, but an evil All Might, known as Dark Might, means it’ll definitely be a challenge for all involved. The perfect tonic to the bittersweet conclusion of the manga after a decade.
