Modern Warfare 3players have been left stunned after realizing that one of the weapons can literally tear through opponents using a Riot Shield, delighted that they might finally have a proper counter.
The Riot Shield has been one of the most frustrating weapons inCall of Dutyin recent years, across both multiplayer and Warzone, as players can use them and sponge an unlimited number of bullets without losing so much as one notch of health.
While there are certain counters, such as using a Semtex or other kind of explosive, or throwing down stun grenades to get in behind them, they can still be very difficult to overcome, especially as they usually build out their class to easily draw you in and make your life a misery.
That may no longer be the case, though, as the new melee weapon introduced in Season 2 Reloaded seems able to get past the Riot Shield like it’s nothing.
Soulrender hits through Riot Shield
Shortly after theS2 Reloaded update, players were quick to clock on to the fact that the Soulrender melee weapon is an easy counter to Riot Shields and could come in extremely handy in both multiplayer and Warzone.

While some players debated whether this move was intentional, developers Sledgehammer Games confirmed that it is entirely intended.
“Not a bug,” they explained. “The Soulrender’s heavy attack, much like the JAK Limb Ripper and JAK Purifier, is an intentional counter to Riot Shields.”
