Man City boss Pep Guardiola was taking no prisoners in his post-match press conference on Tuesday evening.
Cityran out 1-0 winners over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium as an Erling Haaland goal proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The win lifted the reigning champions up to second in thePremier Leaguetable and within one point of leadersLiverpool.
And after Haaland received some criticism for chances he missed in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, Guardiola was in the mood to big up his forward to the media.

“When I was young, I was not a journalist but an old friend said to me: ‘top scorers, strikers, score a lot of goals, don’t criticise, he will shut your mouth’,” said Guardiola.

“Sooner or later he is there. He was out for two months, he lost his grandmother, it is not easy for a human being. If I have to choose one player [to get a chance] I would choose this one.”
A reporter picked up on Guardiola’s mention of journalism and asked him why he never wanted to be a journalist, to which the Man City boss replied: “I am a manager. My life is better than yours. But nothing personal with you.”
