It’s Valentine’s Day, but it looks like Madame Web might not be feeling the love, as the movie is tracked to have an even worse box office opening than Morbius.

The film is the fourth entry in Sony’sSpider-ManUniverse, following on from the likes ofVenom, Venom 2, andMorbius– all of which exclude Peter Parker due to his loan to the MCU (aside from the Venom sequel’s post-credits scene).

According to Box Office Pro, Madame Web is projected to generate $25 million to $35 million during its three-day opening weekend at the domestic box office, which would make it the lowest opening for any SSU movie – even lower than Morbius’ $39 million.

To put it in perspective, here are the box office opening results for all SSU movies:

This would be a shocker given Madame Web’s $80 million budget – not including marketing and additional costs. In order to be considered a box office success, theDakota Johnson-starringflick would need to earn an estimated $200 million.

If these figures are to be believed, this would also placeMadame Websignificantly lower down on the list than The Marvels’ opening, earning $46 million domestically to become the worst debut in the MCU.

The reviews aren’t looking much better, withMadame Web’s Rotten Tomatoescritics’ score currently sitting at 17% – just a slight raise from Morbius’ 15%. However, the latter movie was boosted thanks to its comedic value, earning a sizable 71% from audiences.

Whether this will happen with Madame Web is yet to be seen – the movie is out in cinemas from today (February 14), so we don’t have long to wait to find out.
