The latest bonus chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has explained what Sukuna does all the time, with him being dormant in Yuji’s body.
Jujutsu Kaisenstarts with the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, swallowing the special-grade cursed object. It was Ryomen Sukuna’s finger. Sukuna is feared as the undefeatable King of Curses even over a thousand years after his death.
In ordinary circumstances, Yuji should’ve died as soon as he swallowed the object. However, there’s a one-in-a-million chance that the curse will incarnate, which is exactly what happened. Yuji then became Sukuna’s vessel. However, the surprising part is that he’s able to keep the King of Curses at bay.
Yuji’s body is like a cage that Sukuna cannot get out of. He is conscious but unable to do anything. Since the King of Curses always lies dormant inside Yuji’s body, Jujutsu Kaisen manga explains in one of the extra chapters how Sukuna passes his time.
How Sukuna spends his days in Jujutsu Kaisen
sukuna being canonically bored and jobless will never not be funny to mepic.twitter.com/D70NJkpQ1i
Meanwhile, a panel features Sukuna being bored out of his mind. He is trying to sleep, but the noises keep disturbing him. When he hears a yell, he gets excited, thinking it’s a fight. However, after realizing Yuji is still fooling around, Sukuna goes back to sleep.
Although the bonus chapter is extremely funny, it casually drops a piece of important information about the King of Curses. Ever since taking over Yuji’s body, he’s been watching over everything. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 features Sukuna using a cell phone and getting popcorn and soft drinks. Someone from the Heian era wouldn’t be familiar with these things.
However, since Sukuna knows about Yuji’s daily life, these things aren’t new to him. While Sukuna spends his days getting bored and planning something related to Megumi, Yuji stays in the dark. Sukuna is always conscious and knows everything about Yuji but the opposite isn’t true.
