Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts earned the start for the NFC side in Sunday’s Pro Bowl flag football game. His inability to complete “The Philly Special” drew laughter and jokes from fans and teammates.
In the opening quarter of play, Hurts was driving the ball down the field, utilizing his impressive assortment of talent at wide receiver.
Then, head coach Eli Manning decided to throw a trick play at the opposing defense — one that Philly fans are pretty familiar with.
The creative play call has been in the NFL for decades. But when the Eagles perfectly executed it in Super Bowl LII vs. the Patriots, it affectionately became known as “The Philly Special.” Though Hurts didn’t exactly do the maneuver justice.
