Pull the lever, Kronk – but will the right one be pulled on a live-action version of The Emperor’s New Groove, and is it real?
As far as underratedDisneycartoons go, The Emperor’s New Groove is probably up there. First released in 2000, the movie has lived on in the form of quotes, memes, and viralTikToks.
In recent years, the studio has been seemingly obsessed with developing its back catalog into live-action, with Jungle Book,The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King among the animation to get that treatment.
But what about The Emperor’s New Groove – and are new reports of a live-action remake real? Here’s what you need to know.
Is the Emperor’s New Groove live-action remake actually happening?
No, the Emperor’s New Groove live-action remake isn’t real – nor are any plans for one to happen in the foreseeable future.
Surprise surprise (in our best Cilla Black voice), the culprit behind the completely fake movie poster is Facebook chancersYODA BBY ABY, who have cooked up a delicious take on an Emperor’s New Groove film – which isn’t coming out.
The page is also the mastermind behind the recentClueless sequelrumor,live-action Coraline, andBig Grand Daddy, all of which have clearly been debunked as the fakest of news.
“Prepare for a rollercoaster of laughs, unexpected friendship, and wild antics in a story that proves it’s never too late to change your ways. Don’t miss this comedic spectacle where ancient empires collide with modern humor in an epic quest for groove!”
Sadly, we’ll have to miss this comedic spectacle, as it isn’t actually happening. For movies that are definitely real things that people can watch, headhere.
