Yanma was one of the first new insects introduced to the series after the launch of Pokemon Red & Blue, but can it be encountered in Pokemon Go, and if so, does it have its Shiny form?
Yanma is a Bug/Flying-typePokemonfirst introduced in Gen 2. While Bug-types received several boosts during this generation, it wasn’t enough to help poor Yanma, whose weak stats and typing ensured that it was useless in competitive battles.
Fortunately for Yanma, it would receive a powerful evolution in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl in the form of Yanmega. This beefed-up insect had much stronger stats and some Abilities to call it, but it was held back by the overwhelming presence of Stealth Rock during Gen 4, which dealt a ton of entry damage.
DespiteYanma’s many faults, it’s still a Gen 2 Pokemon and deserves recognition inPokemon Go. Did Niantic do right by the little green bug, or is it another Pokemon sitting on the bench, waiting for its chance to be introduced to the mobile game?
How to get Yanma in Pokemon Go
Yanma can be caught in Pokemon Go. While it currently doesn’t spawn from any Pokemon Eggs, it can be found on the overworld, with a higher encounter rate in Forests and during Rainy and Windy weather. Yanma has also appeared at higher rates during events, such asPokemon Go Tour: Sinnoh.
Yanma’s evolution, Yanmega, also appears in Pokemon Go. To evolve Yanma, you need 100 Yanma Candy and aSinnoh Stone.
Yes, Yanma can be Shiny in Pokemon Go!This also means that its evolution can also be Shiny. In the case of Shiny Yanma, the red parts of its body are bright blue, while Yanmega’s green parts turn blue, making both of them easy to differentiate from the basic version of their kind.
