Helldivers 2 boasts its fair share of powerful weapons, from thebeastly JAR-5 Dominatorto the SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary, the latter of which especially comes in handy when running and gunning.

Weaker weapons occupy the armory, too, none of them more disappointing than the flamethrower. The ranged incendiary device has proven so lackluster that Helldivers 2 players complained of its ineffectiveness against the shooter’s weakest enemy type – Terminid Scavengers.

It led to the community calling for buffs to increase the device’s damage output drastically. To the delight of many, it’s clear the developers at Arrowhead took the feedback seriously.

According to a post onReddit, the latest patch improves thepreviously disappointing flamethrowerso much that it can now “kill chargers quite fast.”

The poster demonstrated the weapon’s newfound effectiveness in the following gameplay clip.

Of course, the community couldn’t be more thrilled with the changes. One Helldivers 2 player who previously dismissed the flamethrower commented, “I always wanted to love the flamethrower, but it just didn’t feel like it did any damage. I really really like this buff!”

Another player argued it may not serve as the ideal weapon to use against the Terminid enemies. They wrote, “It’s probably the best bug weapon in the game now. Sneak up on bugs and just light them all up.”

Still, other Helldivers 2 faithful remain unconvinced of the flamethrower’s overall usefulness after theMarch 6 patch.

Argued one Redditor in the thread, “It could always do that, and faster too (aim for the leg). Honestly, it doesn’t feel stronger at all. I think the 50% dps buff was for specifically the trails on the grounds or something…”

Time and much experimentation will tell how much things have changed for the once-disliked flamethrower.
