Rockstar Games is reportedly cooking up extensive mod tools to enhance the GTA Online experience once GTA 6 launches.
Rumors of GTA 6 incorporatingRP elementsbegan to spread when Rockstar purchased the dev team behind FiveM, a popular mod.
On August 5, a report fromGTAFocalrevealed how FiveM was finallycoming to console, but it also revealed how Rockstar plans to use mods to realize their broader vision for GTA Online.
According to the report, beforeacquiring FiveM, Rockstar was developing its own project that would rival the mod. Although the project was shelved, it’s since resumed development.
GTAFocal claims this project is part of Rockstar’s plans for GTA Online and “significantly involves user-generated content through new Rockstar’s online proprietary modding tools.”
Rockstar is seemingly working on a public version of the Mission Creator.
The report also points to a file in the GTA Online Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC discovered by insider Tez2, which suggests Rockstar is working on a mission creator.
“The possibility of bringing it to consoles will also serve as a way to keep the game alive once updates slow down andGTA 6arrives,” the report says.
FiveM, the role play server for#GTAOnline, is rumoured to be coming to consoles later this year.
It has also been leaked that ROME, a new modding engine developed in-house by Rockstar is to be made available in#GTAVas a ‘test’ but primarily for#GTAVI.
