How would Goku and Luffy handle their most iconic transformations of Super Saiyan and Gear 5 being swapped? A fan has created a hilarious comic to give us just that answer.

One PieceandDragon Ball Zhave a fair amount in common, outside of series creator Eiichiro Oda stating the DBZ is a direct inspiration for One Piece.Larger-than-life fights,grand-scale adventures, hilarious moments, andiconic sceneshave become staples ofanimehistory.

Though the two transformations come from very different circumstances, fans cannot help but compareLuffy’s Gear 5 manipulating everything as if it were rubber and the recipient of one of the most iconic scenes in anime history: Super Saiyan. A fan has gone one step further than comparing the forms by proposing: what if the characters forms swapped?

What if Goku and Luffy’s iconic transformations swapped?

What if Goku and Luffy’s iconic transformations swapped?

Goku and Luffy are reasonably similar; both love a laugh, want to protect those they care about, and, most importantly, enjoy a good fight. Fanspreviously thought that Luffy’s Gear 5 could break up the tensionand ruin a serious moment, and this short fan swap may confirm the worry persists.

ThoughLuffy is sometimes silly with Gear 5, when push comes to shove, he does click into a serious demeanor, if only for a short time, to do what needs to be done, and then he resumes laughing. Goku is the opposite; when things get serious, he does as well, especially when it comes to putting down Frieza.

Goku’s treatment of death, on the other hand, is akin to that seen in the Dragon Ball Z Abridged Series; while funny, it’s definitely not how Goku reacts as we’ve witnessed in the original scene, leading to u/vangstampede comment to justify Goku’s original reaction. Though we get a laugh out of Krillin doing the Family Guy death pose.

Though Luffy going Super Saiyan may have resorted in a much shorter and more serious fight where the infamous Kaido gets put down with a Kamehameha, also everyone can admit that Kaido resembling Shenron is a nice touch. We’re happy that the two series leads have their own transformations that suit them perfectly.
