While Tekken 8 does not currently have any form of in-game microtransactions, in-game purchases are coming.Thedevelopers have announced a Tekken Shopis coming to the game, and its ESRB rating has been updated to say the game has “In-Game Purchases.”
For now, the game does feature free costumes and customization for itsentire roster, although you may need to complete certain challenges to claim them.
Beyond the Tekken Shop, you can buy the Deluxe or Ultimate editions for an exclusive Gold costume and the Year 1 character pass. However, these purchases are not in-game. Instead, they’re thevarious editionsthat you need to buy from the store.
It remains to be seen what the Tekken Shop will look like and, most importantly, how the microtransactions will be priced. Recently, there has been immense criticism surrounding microtransactions in Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1.Street Fighter 6’s costume 3 prices are abnormally high, and if you decide to buy it for every character in the game, it can go well over $100.
