Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion will answer players’ prayers with a new item that saves bricked gear.
Diablo 4’sVessel of Hatred expansionis giving players a lot to get excited about. The DLC will introduce a new campaign, hirable mercenaries, and the powerful-lookingSpiritborn class.
The item was initially revealed as a reward from the new co-op-centric Dark Citadel activity. “No more bricked items. You’ll be able to apply this scroll and get all new Tempering charges on that item,” Lead Game Designer Rex Dickson explained.
For those lucky enough not to recognize the term, bricking refers to a piece of gear becoming useless following suboptimal Tempering. If the wrong aspects get buffed during the Tempering process, it can impact the gear’s viability for endgame use.
This has been a major problem for layers who risk incredibly rare gear with multiple Greater Affixes, only to have them brick. This new item coming to Diablo 4 when Vessel of Hatred launches will hopefully reduce the sting by offering another chance to get it right.
Don’t worry if you’re not planning on picking up the expansion right away, however. Following the reveal, Community Manager Adam Fletcher gave some extra clarification on the Scroll of Retempering including confirmation that it would be available in the base game.
