In a post tothe Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, a fan gives their explanation for why they view Gale as “high intelligence, low wisdom.”

They go into detailhow they love Galeand “undoubtedly intelligent in many fields.”

However, they also feel that Gale is kind of useless in a lot of ways, to the point that he might be, “in the running with Minsc for dumbest companion.”

Further, they say that most of Gale’s arc is about helping him not make the wrong decision, whereas other companions have much more independent kind of arcs.

The responses to the post have been largely in agreement, with one user saying: “Spot on imo, I have not and probably will never be able to decide if Gale is my most favorite or most hated companion for exactly this reason.”

Many people view Gale as someone who possesses book smarts, but is socially inept in many situations in Baldur’s Gate 3.

One user describes him as being, “little more than a child desperate for an adult’s guidance and approval.”

While this may sound rather harsh, this does not mean that the community views Galeas a bad character. In fact, many of the players in the thread describe him as one of the most relatable companions in the game.

The strength of thewriting in Baldur’s Gate 3continues to keep the game rolling and has players coming back for several repeat playthroughs. It doesn’t seem like its popularity is going to die down anytime soon.
