Avatar The Last Airbender is finally getting the fighting game that fans of the franchise have been begging for.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is in the midst of a renaissance at the moment. The latest live-action adaptation of the franchiseis almost ready to launch on Netflix andthree new animated projects are in the works.
Of those animated projects, we know one isa feature-length film focusing on Zukoand another isa full-fledged series that takes place after The Legend of Korra. It’s never been a better time to be a fan of the series.
The Avatar franchise’s video game history is a little mixed. There were some serviceable adaptations on PlayStation 2, Gameboy Advance, and Nintendo DS when the first series kicked off.
Since then, busts like The Legend of Korra tie-in game and the more recent Avatar: The Last Airbender Quest for Balance have left fans skeptical about the franchise’s potential for video game adaptations. Renewed interest in the series may encourage a little more polish in this new title.
Hopefully, a direct partnership with Paramount will at least afford the title a bigger budget than previous efforts. They do have a vested interest in maintaining the reputation of the series in the lead-up to those animated projects.
