Shockingly violent and unusually funny, American Psycho is the favorite of many, and fans have grown to be protective of their “perfect” slasher flick.

However, a recent rumor has suggested that Lionsgate are looking to modernize Bateman and his story, and first reactions have already proven that they might want to start rethinking that idea.

“@Lionsgate, here’s how you “modernize”/”reinvent” American Psycho: YOU DON’T. It’s perfect the way it is. Leave it alone, please,” wrote oneX user.

“What an absolute f*cking watered down disaster this would be. Dear Lord,”said another.

One userwrote: “Ughh why aren’t we making original movies? This is baffling. Nobody wants this.”

“How about they don’t? The original is perfect,”another commentsaid.

Still, there’s a lesson to learn. Patrick Bateman fans don’t take kindly to any movie that tries to associate itself with the heavily-praised original, so maybe it’s not worth trying to!
